Third Day In Nanchang
Today was a rather rough day.  Alexis woke up cranky and that was pretty much the pattern for the rest of the day.  Fred and I pulled out what parenting techniques we knew and some worked for a while.  She had her physical examination at 12:45pm.  We had to stay in our room all day until it was our turn.  The doctor said she was healthy and complimented Fred and I on doing such a great job taking care of her.  To new parents, those words were like a million dollars.  We were on cloud nine!  Later, we took her back to the room and she took a nap for only 1hr, which was not enough.

Tomorrow, we are going to tour 2000 year old temples in Nanchang.  I can't wait.  It's weird driving down the road and seeing Wal-mart and all of the modern buildings next to such old structures.  This will be a great to video tape so everyone can see.

Alexis has been sleeping with the little lovey that Aunt Valerie gave her.  She wraps her arms around it and hugs it all night.  She really loves it!

Everyone met tonight in the dining hall to sample an array of Chinese cuisine.  It was great!  I don't think I will ever eat American Chinese food again.  It is nothing like true Chinese cuisine.

Alexis was good for about 30 minutes and then had other plans.  She became incredibly fussy and I had to take her back to the room.  Fred volunteered to do it but I told him I would because I wasn't feeling well anyway.  I'm starting to get a sinus infection and had to start antibiotics.  At least, it's not a cold.  So, I tried to calm her down with a bath which she loves and she screamed more.  Finally, I figured out she was having trouble with a BM.  So, baby prune food to the rescue!  Needless to say, she fell asleep at 9:45pm and in good spirits.  I'm sure tomorrow will be a better day for her. I know on thing though, this kid has a set of lungs on her and a temper to go with it when she's not feeling well.  Can't blame her though.  It finally dawned on Fred today that he is a Daddy and she's our daughter forever.  He started to cry because I think everything finally sunk in.  He has been so happy having fun with her but I think he was still remaining focused on what was to come next.  Well, the adoption was finalized yesterday and she’s our's forever...

We are staying in Nanchang until Saturday because her passport won't be ready until Friday.  After that, we fly to Guangzhou for 5-6 days to get her visa.

Keep the e-mails coming.  It's nice to hear from everyone back home.  It's makes us feel like were staying in touch with what's going on in the states.

Will write more tomorrow.

Love,
Aly
