We left Orlando International at 6:00am and arrived in Chicago at 8:00am. At 10:48am,we boarded a 747 in route to Hong Kong. As soon as the planes wheels left the ground, I had tears streaming down my face. I We are finally going to get Alexis!!! This is really happening. We will have her in our arms in two days.
August 18th:
What happened to the 17th? Fred and I have been up for more than 24hrs by this point. The flight took 15hrs. from Chicago to Hong Kong, traveling over the top of the world. Mild turbulous over the Artic Ocean but otherwise it was a smooth flight. We saw polar ice packs from 35,000 feet up, the view was breathtaking. Hong Kong is beyond words. The city is incredibly busy during all times of the day, but seems to become more alive after dark. The view along Victory Harbor is spectacular...the pictures do not do it justice. We had dinner in the Kowloon Shangrai-La Hotel where we are staying and paid $620.00HK for dinner. When you see the receipt for $620.00 it makes you gasp, until you do the conversion. Our US dollar is worth HK.136799 dollars.
The hotel, service and CCAI reps are fabulous. This has been a smooth transition so far. Tomorrow, we will be touring Victoria Peak, Aberdeen Fisherman's Village, Stanley Market, Jewelry Factory, and having a Dim Sum lunch compliments of CCAI. Well, it's 10:20PM and we have only had 6hrs. of sleep in two days. So, this e-mail will be short today. By the way, there are 80 people here with us from CCAI who are adopting their daughter's on Sunday, with us.
