Well our little angle slept from 7:40pm to 5:00am this morning. That's our girl. When she woke she drank a bottle and then went back to sleep for a few hours and then had some congee (rice cereal) she felt a little warm and it seem that all the babies are warm. I'm not sure it she is teething, coming down with something or just overwhelmed. She did sleep a good portion of the day.
Bob and Nick went to the bank with Marie and one parent from each family to get money for our 3:00pm appointment. Right before we were getting ready to leave for the appointment Nicholas gave Alexandra a bottle and then we turned a major corner, yep she smiled for the first time and started to do a little talking. We were all so overwhelmed and it was very emotional. We are so in love with this baby it is hard to describe.
The appointment at 3:00pm was at the registration office where the adoption becomes final. They took a family photo and the application for her passport is prepared for her citizenship paper. This is where all the government documents are finalized. We took an oath to love her, and never abuse or abandon her. Again very emotional. We were there for several hours! We got a chance to talk to the orphanage director and ask her questions about Alexandra. She was able to tell us who she slept next to in the orphanage and what she liked to do there. We found out that the orphanage is 6 hours away from where we are staying excluding traffic and there is so much traffic here. Marie informed us that the doctor was going to come around this evening to check out the baby's and I was thrilled. I wanted him to check out her ears and listen to her chest. He did and said everything appears to be fine. We ordered some room service and Alexandra went to bed at 8:00am. She is sure a delight and we are very anxious to see more of her personality hopefully tomorrow.
We are taking lots of pictures to share with everyone when we get back. (John the camera is working great!) Tomorrow we are venturing out in the morning with Marie and she will show us where good shopping is, massages, and good restaurants. (I haven’t seen any good food since Beijing). There is a Pizza Hut across the street that Bob and Nick are looking forward to trying. Well I better close for now and we will post again tomorrow. Sorry this one took a while to post but the computers her are really slow. We miss you all and we are thankful for all of you. Continue to pray for us.
