Today we went to visit the Chen's Ancestral Lineage Hall in Guangzhou. It is a tribute to life in China's past up to the present and highlighting the importance of the Chen family. Of interest is the fact that the actor Jackie Chan, is really a Chen, and used 2 pieces of pottery from here for his Rush Hour 2 movie. We visited this museum last trip, yet it is still fascinating and enjoyable. Ethan and Olivia remembered a few rooms including the bed (with no mattress) and the porcelain (as in stone) pillows. The Chinese find our beds too soft. The kids were still "movie stars" with people taking their picture and trying to talk to them. Have not figured out how to charge for the photos. Perhaps we need a Chinese "agent" to help us with some gigs for them as this might be one way to help pay for college?!
Ainsley was truly set apart by God to be a "Clark Bar" and has quite the personality. She likes to sing and dance and continues with her wonderful sense of humor. I am surprised that she does not care for vegetables and having a hard time expanding her diet beyond the bland and basic. In time I am sure she will love a variety of tastes.
Found "The Swan Room" yesterday which is a mega playroom for families to let their little ones run and play in with all the toys included. All four children enjoyed the room immensely and we enjoy meeting other families, too.
Richard was very sweet to allow Nana Carole and Stacy go shopping for about an hour and browse the streets. Not much needed, but fun to window shop.
We enjoyed dinner at Lucy's again and ate outside with the lights twinkling from the umbrellas. Olivia has been ordering an adult size portion of ribs for dinner. Not sure where she puts it, but she surely runs it off quickly. Sophia is happy to have found the PB and J sandwich which has been missed since coming to China. Ethan is in love with the cheeseburgers. Nana Carole got crazy and ordered spicy Thai food. Ethan, Olivia and Ainsley ran around in the park after dinner chasing each other playing tag and arguing about "who was it". Ainsley just laughed and followed her older siblings around. After getting out of daddy's lap from being almost asleep so daddy could take Ethan to the bathroom Sophia found her way onto Nana Carole's lap after dinner and fell fast asleep. Still maladjusted to the time change, but we are coming home soon! |
