We flew to Changsha City this morning with the two other families who are also adopting girls from Hunan. Once again, China Southern Airlines was a wonderful experience. We met with our guide Vicky outside of the baggage claim area. Vicky is from Hunan. The drive from the airport to Changsha City was pleasant. The air is warmer and humid compared to Beijing. The climate and the foliage are similar to the southeastern US. There are few foreigners here in Changsha. Vicky said that 90% of the foreign visitors are adoptive parents. We are staying in the Dolton Hotel. The lobby looks like a palace. We look forward to spending the next few days here. We went to a small market and bought a few things for tomorrow. We picked up juice, water, crackers and other prepared Chinese snacks.
On the drive from the airport, the reality that we really are going to meet our daughter tomorrow at 9:30 AM set in. Vicky told us that she had met Hong Mei a year ago. It broke my heart to hear that all of her baby friends had already been adopted. Vicky said that Hong Mei is aware that she is going to be adopted. She has watched her friends say goodbye as they have left with their new families. Hong Mei wants to have a family too. This is wonderful that she is being prepared to meet us. We are taking a snack, juice and a baby doll with us tomorrow to encourage her t o like us. Please pray for her this night/day that we will be able to comfort her.
Goodnight,
Joanna
A new commandment I give unto you, that ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples if ye have love one to another.
