July, 2004- We attended our first informational meeting at Children’s Hope International adoption agency in St. Louis.
August, 2004 -Adoption application approved by agency.
September, 2004- Interview at Children’s Hope and first home study visit.
Application for passport, submission of paperwork to immigration for Advanced Processing of an Orphan, and request for federal fingerprinting appointment.
October, 2004 -Completion of police record check, state fingerprints taken, employment & salary verification, submit financial statements, insurance/employee benefit verification, five personal reference letters, vaccination records of our furry family members, physical exam reports from family physician, lists and purposes of any medications prescribed, written autobiographies from each of us, obtain license to provide foster care in Illinois, names and occupations of extended family, emergency evacuation plan, plans for childcare, and submission of photos of home, child’s room, and family.
February,2005- Homestudy Update.
March, 2005 -Approval (finally!) of immigration paperwork . All documents notarized are then sent to Springfield, IL for authentication, then sent to the Chinese Consulate in Washington D.C. for certification. -
July 15, 2005- Dossier logged in at the Chinese Consulate in Beijing. (We are officially waiting for Aerin.)
September,2005-Homestudy Update.
February, 2006- Appointment to renew expired fingerprints for immigration.
June, 2006- Homestudy Update, and re-apply for expired immigration approval.
