FINALLY!  Our Home Update -
February 18, 2007
(Happy Chinese New Year!)
Thanks so much for visiting us during our journey,
Matt, Andrea and Aerin!
Well, our home update has been a long time coming, but time really flies when you are new parents. Aerin's transition home has been wonderful! In spite of her being so sick, so soon, upon arriving home, and all the blood tests and immunizations, she is still so trusting and loving. She is the best thing that has ever happened to us!

Our entire family is so in love with baby Aerin! (I should say our big girl Aerin. We celebrated her second birthday on January, 2nd.) She is also quite the community celebrity! Nearly every day that we are out and about, someone will stop us and say, "this must be Aerin!". Living in a very small town, news travels fast, and it seems the entire county had been anticipating Aerin's arrival home in Sesser.

We have been so blessed to have such a happy child. She never seems to meet a stranger, and her vocabulary is expanding every day. Just like a little sponge, she is picking up our Southern Illinois dialect, and many mannerisms I didn't realize I had until I see them acted out in front of me.

She is learning how to "be nice" to the kitties and feed treats to the "doooog". We are using a real spoon and fork to feed ourself, and ask for "mooore" food. Especially, raisins, apples, Cheerios, and any kind of meat. We have ourselves a very good eater!!!

Bedtime has become pretty easy, and one of Mom's favorite times of day.   We tell Aerin, "Get your baby and lovie, it's night-night." She'll grab my hand and her favorite doll and blanket and we head down the hall to her room. I love to rock her to sleep! I think sometimes she'd be just as content to be put straight into her crib, but I love to sit in the rocking chair and hold her and sing until she falls asleep. Sometimes, Matt will come in and check on us to make sure I'm not having trouble getting her to sleep, but usually, I'm just sitting there, rocking, and staring at my precious, sleeping baby. This Mom thing is really incredible! I hate that it has taken me until my thirty-eighth year on this planet to experience this, but it has been so worth the wait!

We want to thank all our friends and family that have laughed, cried and prayed, with and for us on our journey to Aerin. Your support and encouragement has also touched our hearts and made our experience, even more joyful.

All our love,
The Cockrums- Matt , Andrea & Aerin
