Gotcha Day!
Thanks so much for visiting us during our journey,
Matt, Andrea and Aerin!
IT'S A GIRL! 30 pounds and two and a half feet tall. Delivered by bus at 9 a.m. October 30, 2006. She is perfect!

We are so sorry for the delay of this post. Our schedule was changed and "Gotcha Day" and Adoption Day were combined into one. We had to make two trips by bus to the CCAA. The first for meeting our daughter and the second to make it official, with more paperwork of course.

We were so prepared for tears, fear and rejection. But, WOW, our experience couldn't have been any better.

The nurses brought the Huainan babies in the room together. I knew the minute I saw her that those cheeks belonged to our baby girl! By chance we were standing in the back of the room and the nurses came to the back and sat beside me. At first, I got a glance, then a stare, then I waved. The nurse came closer and I asked, "Qing?". She shook her head no and I asked again, "Huai Qing Fang?". She smiled and shook her head yes and said, "Fang Fang".  (pronounced Fong Fong) My tears started again and Matt was grinning from ear to ear. Once I gained my composure and broke out the toys and Chinese Cheerios, sat on the floor and bribed her to come sit on my lap. Within seconds she was letting me feed her the first of many snacks. And, within 15 minutes Matt and I both were both getting kisses! It was absolutely amazing!

After returning to the hotel with our new bundle of joy, we took a nap while Dad did more paperwork in the lobby. In the afternoon we went back to the CCAA to finish interviewing, and yes, more paperwork.

It was quite a day, and absolutely the best day of our lives!
