Yes, we made it. Time is flying by, and we are trying so hard to get our travel journal going. Matt and I made our connections in Tokyo without any problems. Most of you know, Matt had to travel to Japan on business, Sunday, October 22. My flights from St. Louis to Detroit to Tokyo on the 26th, connected me to Matt in Tokyo. Together we flew the 4 hours to Beijing.
(I'm really glad I didn't count up the hours I would be on the plane in
advance- Nineteen hours sitting/sleeping/reading/ in one spot.) We arrived at our hotel around 10 p.m. (Beijing time) Friday, the 27th.
VERY, very tired. We are staying at the Swiss hotel in Beijing. We are very fortunate to have such a nice place to stay. We will be traveling on Sunday, Oct. 29th, to our next destination, Anhui Province, Aerin's home in China.
We can't wait to see her! It really feels like a dream come true that we are here. We are so thankful for all the support and prayers everyone has contributed. Spencer and Annette, thank you so much for getting up so early to take me to the airport! Mom and Tom, thank you for the web-cam we plan to be using very soon. Thank you to Donna and Jennifer for lending us the extra luggage and for providing tech support when we had a misplaced itinerary in Tokyo.
Thank you Christy for taking good care of my furry family while we're away.
Thanks Pete for answering your cell while you were in your tree stand, hunting, so we could leave messages from Beijing. Emeri, thanks for helping me send my e-mails to Uncle Matt. And, last but not least, thank you Riley for helping me try on the "peanut shell" for Aerin's transportation and my comfort. We love you all, and will post again soon.
