What a wonderful day!!! We started off the day by visiting a foster home outside of Beijing. It was awesome! The home is run by an American family that has a heart for the orphans. Their ministry to the children is amazing - but it even extends beyond their foster home to a bakery they have started to give the children useful skills to give them a chance at a future. I cried SO much today - just in awe of what two people can do to make a difference for a small group of children. It was pretty cool to see that a few years ago, a pretty familiar musician with three adopted daughters from China came and visited this same home. Any guesses???
Connie, Gail and I are causing all kinds of trouble together. It's probably a good thing our time as the three stooges is limited! Lots of laughter and that has been medicine to my heart. We had the joy of sharing some of our funniest "inside jokes" with her that involve: cheerleading skirts, spoons, Ken dolls, lush Caribbean cruising and many more. Jill - we miss you here and I KNOW that you would have had a blast!
We went to an acrobat show tonight. Fun. Except the old lady behind me that kept giving my son popcorn! GOOD GRIEF! I told Gail "this is why no one else is supposed to feed my kids in the early days...”
Our guide managed to work out a way for us to go to the Great Wall tomorrow
- with GAIL!!! It'll be great!
