Our Hotel in Hong Kong was attached to the airport, so all we had to do is checkout and walk into the airport. For the first time since we arrived in China, we were on our own, which was a little scary. We had a little bit of trouble finding where to check in and had trouble
finding someone English speaking to help. We finally found where to
check in with a little time left over to do last minute shopping before boarding the plane. Fourteen hours later we landed in Chicago and little Abigail, in Grandma's arms, is now an American citizen. Abigail was restless on the plane and slept very little, however, for a nineteen month baby who has only known me for a week and a half, she did
pretty good. Another prayer answered. We were in Chicago for
approximately four hours and twenty minutes. This seems like a long time, but when you go through customs with a brand new US citizen, it takes longer. I had to turn in a sealed envelope, I received in Guangzhou from the US Consulate, which was opened and checked to make sure everything was as it should be. Again no problems. We had time for supper and reached our gate with time to spare. When we landed in Raleigh, my neighbor Jean was there to pick us up. I am lucky to have such wonderful neighbors. I am glad to be home and sad that my much anticipated trip is over. I will miss all the new friends I made in China, but all the wonderful memories will be with me forever. I hope to one day take Abigail back on a mission trip. I want to teach her to love giving as much as receiving. I want to teach her to see the beauty in everyone even those who are different . I have a strong network of friends and family to help me do this. I can already see she is a good fit for me. She loves music and is always ready for a new adventure. |
